For a few innings Tuesday afternoon Briarwood Academy held a 3-2 lead over Gatewood; however, the Gators produced a key hit late in the game to take a 6-3 win.
“We played a great game,” said Coach Bo Fleming. “We battled one of the top teams in the state for seven innings.”
Although Gatewood opened with a two-run inning in the top of the first, Briarwood responded by scoring two runs to tie the game in the bottom of the inning.
In the top of the third inning, a Jack Russell hit drove Dalton Banks in from third to score. The Bucs took a 3-2 lead.
