Bagpipe music greeted children from Maxwell Elementary School Wednesday morning as they walked up the sidewalk toward the McDuffie Museum.
The 20 kindergarten and first-grade students comprised just one of several school groups which have visited, or will visit, the museum to see the New Harmonies exhibit. Lewis Smith, interim volunteer director of the museum, tries to schedule Mark Cheek, a retired educator who has played bagpipes since about 1994, to be on hand outside the museum when groups of children visit.
Once the group was inside the museum, Smith provided a brief introduction of what the exhibit is about.
