The Bible and bingo meet most Thursdays at Greater St. James A.M.E. Church in Thomson.
A church and community group called Golden Guys and Gals takes over the church’s lower hall in a gathering of fellowship, praise and support.
The multigenerational gathering is centered on outreach and providing laughter, which is identified as one of the best medicines for what ails, group leaders note
Each week, the group’s attending composition and numbers change. One week, it would be all women; the next, it would be majority youth; and the next, the majority men. But, there is a core group of up to 10 who are regulars.
Mary Cummings and Helen Morgan, who facilitate the church group, note that the body’s ministry is helping one another inside and outside the church.
The two women have also provided an 18 years long ministry to residents of Thomson Manor providing words of inspiration and praise, and also small tokens or food.
