A seventh grader at Thomson-McDuffie Middle School has an opportunity to go to Washington, D.C., to participate in a June conference focusing on enhancing leadership skills but he needs assistance in getting there.
Joshua Nolan, director of Thomson’s Boys and Girls Club, has sounded the clarion call for the community to help Markell Brady-Whitford, a club member, raise the $3,000 tuition, lodging and transportation costs he needs to attend the 2013 Junior National Young Leaders Conference.
The invitation to the conference is a result Brady-Whitford’s outstanding academic and leadership demonstration. He was nominated by seventh grade language arts instructor Anita Gaskin, in recognition of “an outstanding individual who has achieved academic excellence and possesses strong leadership potential.”
