By Linda Green

Have you ever wanted to experience sitting around a campfire, roasting hotdogs over a flame and sleeping in a tent but were unsure about the experience?
Georgia State Parks desires to help those who have wanted to try camping but are unsure how to begin.
The park system created a First-Time Camper program in 2012 and A.H. Stephens State Park in Crawfordville, in Taliaferro County, is one of nine parks helping people discover the joys of sleeping under the stars.
The First-Time Camper program provides borrowed gear, expert advice, two nights’ accommodations and more for $50 to people wanting to see what camping is all about.
