A member of the Kiwanis Club of Thomson was honored for his leadership during a regional rally on Tuesday night.
Tom Smalley, club song leader and former president, was one of three people in Georgia’s 6th Division of Kiwanis to receive a leadership award from Kiwanis Governor Charles Hood.
The 6th Division comprises six clubs in Augusta, Thomson, Louisville, Washington and Warrenton. Nearly 80 members of the clubs came together at the White Columns Inn to highlight activities and celebrate achievements in 2012 and receive inspiration to continue in 2013.
“I accept this award on behalf of all of the members of our club who spent a lot of effort this past year to not only help youth of McDuffie County but also the youth around the world,” Smalley said. “I accept this in their behalf,” he said.
