McDuffie County residents who donated blood to the Shepeard Community Blood in the first three months of 2013 saved 924 local lives.
More than 150 McDuffie citizens participated in blood drives at their places of employment, retail stores, churches, organizations and other places between January and March.
“We are extremely grateful for their generosity because local patients would not be able to receive the quality care that they need if people did not donate blood with Shepeard.,” said Claire Rossie, the agency’s director of public relations.
“Shepeard is thanking these individuals because they not only give their time and effort, but also the gift of life which is the greatest gift you could ever give to someone”, she said.
The blood center’s mission is to collect, process, and distribute blood and blood products to 21 local hospitals.
