Dearing Elementary School teachers from three grade levels now are using Apple iPads in the classroom. Those iPads were provided at no expense to either DES or McDuffie County School District.
Earlier this school year, third, fourth, and fifth grade teachers participated in a study sponsored by ACT and Pearson. The evaluation allowed the teachers to get a better look at question design using the new Common Core State Standards.
Recently, those participating teachers all received iPads and now each has been busy selecting the best apps to use in the classroom.
DES third grade teacher Heather Jackson said the iPad can be used as a classroom management tool — and she has a special app for that.
