Retired teachers are pulling together to help provide school supplies for local students and classrooms.
Starting in January, every time the Tri-County Retired Educators Association meets, the members show up with school supplies. The organization comprises retired educators from McDuffie, Warren and Glascock counties.
“We found out because of cuts in the school funds that the schools did not require children to bring paper and pencils. So, the teachers are struggling trying to get the children to have something very basic, pencils and paper,” said Geraldine Reid, president of the organization.
