Before the Chief Magistrate Judge receives a raise, he has to document the hours he works for 60 days.
That is the recommendation the county commission made during its Wednesday morning meeting.
The county commissioners again addressed the issue of a raise for Judge Bryant “Bubba” Swan on Monday evening and Wednesday morning.
The commissioners issued a compromise to the judge’s request that his salary be increased from $35,000 to $50,000 on Feb. 19 to make his income comparable to other part-time magistrate judges who are also attorneys by agreeing to pay him $40 per hour, with a maximum of $40,000 a year.
