The result of a crash between a vehicle and a flatbed truck on Interstate 20 did not end well for a Hart County couple on Thursday.
Members of McDuffie County Fire Rescue extricated Edward Lane, 86 and Dolphin Wayne, age unknown, from their vehicle and a Glascock County ambulance transported them to the Medical College of Georgia with neck injuries after their burgundy Chevy Malibu collided with a tractor-trailer in eastbound lane of I-20, just beyond the 172 Thomson exit.
The accident began in the eastbound lane after the car, driven by Edward Wayne, bounced off the truck that is owned by Unity Express of Orangeburg, S.C.
Timothy Whetstone, the driver of the truck, said the Malibu came off the exit ramp and instead of merging into traffic continued over into the outside lane and struck his right front wheel.
