Briarwood Academy gets baseball season underway Friday when the team travels to Thomas Jefferson Academy.
Coach Kevin Cowart is looking forward to a full roster of athletes this season after only having nine or 10 players a year ago.
“The past couple of years, since we haven’t had many players, baseball has kind of been on the back burner here. I think with these kids coming out, hopefully I think we can turn it around and get things started,” he said.
This year’s 21-player roster is comprised of eight seniors, four juniors, one sophomore, and eight freshmen.
“I do have eight seniors this year, but there’s only one that has played for four years of high school,” Cowart said.
