Bringing people together was the impact of The March on Washington and learning from whence you came is the importance of black history, says an area centenarian.
Emmie J. Green, 100, is native of Warren County but resides in The Master's Personal Care Home in Thomson.
"Some of the changes over the years have been for the better," said Green, who was born in 1912.
"There is a lot of different in the country today," she said.
The difference is a result of the fight for equality and rights that many worked for and was solidified by the 1963 March on Washington, a key moment in the struggle for civil rights, she added.
