Fire destroyed a Dearing residence Saturday morning, Feb. 23, leaving seven people without a place to live.
Firefighters responded to 208 First Street around 7:15 a.m. and found the single-story wood house fully involved, said Capt. Judson Story, of the Dearing Fire Department.
Story said the home was owned by Lem Brooks and occupied by Judy Bailey, and that the blaze began in the front part of the home.
Jimmy Duff said he was awake when the fire began.
“I was in the living room, and the fire began in a front room,” said Duff. “My little cousin woke up screaming, for everyone to get out.”
