Dexter Lovins

Dexter Lovins, a member of the McDuffie County School Board, died Thursday afternoon after suffering a massive heart attack.
Lovins, 72, died at University Hospital McDuffie around 4:30 p.m. He represented District Six and began his second term in January.
According to Jim LeBrun, superintendent of McDuffie County schools, Lovins was unresponsive when transported from home to the hospital at 3:30 p.m.
"It is a tragedy and severe loss to the school system," said LeBrun. "Dexter Lovins was committed to McDuffie County and to the community. He was well-thought-of in Dearing and in Thomson. He was known for his commitment to family and his faith. The needs of students were first and foremost," LeBrun said.
