County firefighters respond to three alarms
By Linda Green

Smoke from an elevator, an overheated furnace motor and an activated alarm sent county fire firefighters into response mode on Sunday.
The McDuffie County Fire Rescue responded to a call at the Comfort Inn on Washington Road, a reported structure fire at 1817 Wrightsboro Road and to an alarm at Georgia Iron Works on Ferrous Road.
According to Assistant Fire Chief Stephen Sewell, fire was not found at any location but there was smoke and heat at the hotel and a malfunctioning furnace at the Wrightsboro Road residence. Firefighters investigated and nothing out of the ordinary was discovered at the 968 Ferrous Road location.
