By Staff Reports

UPDATE: Thursday evening McDuffie County Coroner Foster Wylie identified four of the five people who perished in the crash. Those confirmed dead are Dr. Steven M. Roth, Kim Davidson, Lisa Volpitto and Tiffany Porter. Wylie said was unable to release the identity of the fifth victim at this time.
A fatal crash around 8 p.m. Wednesday killed several occupants of the plane, according to Maj. Ronnie Williamson, of the McDuffie County Sheriff's Office.
The plane crashed in a wooded area behind the Milliken plant on Washington Road. The names of the deceased and survivors have not been released. Nearly a dozen ambulances and other emergency vehicles kept a vigil at the intersection of Washington Road and Edmunds Road throughout the night.
Thursday morning officials were still on the scene and deputies were on standby along Washington Road.
According to an FFA spokesperson Kathleen Bergen, the plane was a Beechcraft 390/Premier I jet and it crashed after landing on Runway 10 at Thomson-McDuffie County Airport.
Her statement reports that "the aircraft apparently ran off the runway and into a wooded area at the east end of the airport." She further indicated that the flight had departed from John Tune Airport in Nashville, Tenn.
Bergen stated seven occupants were on the plane.
