A crowd converged on Dearing to officially open the town’s new walking track Monday morning.
Officials from the Town of Dearing, McDuffie County, the Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce, and town residents gathered behind Mayor Sean Kelley as he cut the ribbon. The walking trail is located in the grassy park area in front of the old schoolhouse.
The track is 1,358 feet long and four laps equal slightly more than a mile.
“I appreciate ya’ll coming out today to the opening of this track. It’s been a long time coming. I’m glad to finally see it in the ground,” said Kelley.
