• Commissioners address vacation hours, magistrate’s salary
By Linda Green

Nearly 50 county employees attended the County Commission’s work session Thursday night to express dissatisfaction with a proposal that may reduce the vacation leave cap from 320 hours to 160 hours.
Commissioner Sammie Wilson, in speaking of the possibility, said the county made changes in holidays and other matters to match the City of Thomson, but did nothing about the number of vacation hours an employee is allowed to roll over into the next year. “They cap it at 160,” he said.
“It is not the accrual policy. We changed it to match the city. It is the cap,” said County Manager Don Norton.
