• Adult day cares keep elderly active, happy and healthy
By Wayne Parham

Claire Russell, owner of Family Care, Inc., has an affinity for caring for the elderly whether through providing home health care or by operating five adult day care centers.
Her company operates The Home Place at locations in Thomson, Lincolnton, Wrens, and Millen. She also has The Gilead, a non-profit adult day care center, which is housed at the Thomson-McDuffie Senior Citizens Center.
“What we do is amazing. Not what I do, but what the environment and the group does is amazing,” she said.
Adult day care lets those who are aging or facing medical conditions still be able to gather and socialize. A nurse is on staff the entire time to help with any medical needs.
