A birthday cake and a countywide proclamation heralded the 70th anniversary of The Kiwanis Club of Thomson.
The community organization, with a mission to make the county and world a better place by helping one child at a time, was honored with a proclamation recognizing Jan. 28 through Feb. 3 as Thomson Kiwanis Week.
The decree observing the 70th anniversary of the club's charter was read by County Commission Chairman Charlie Newton on Monday. It was jubilantly received by the Club's 36 members. They were joined in the 70th charter celebration by David Henderson, Lt. Governor of Kiwanis Division 6.
