A Thomson veterinarian is not averse to prescribing a walk in the woods or exercise for her canine patients to promote healthy pets and people.
Dr. Lynn Echols, of The McDuffie Animal Hospital, is throwing her support behind Pets RXercise, a new initiative by the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association, to fight obesity in pets and their owners.
The state veterinary association has partnered with Georgia’s State Parks to encourage pet owners to take their leashed dogs on trails and hikes through state parks or through the woods to increase physical activity.
“It is a great idea all around if people take time to do it,” Echols said. “Exercise is good for people and for their pets,” she said.
