• Lowering of Rousseau Creek tax rate headed to court
By Linda Green

The McDuffie County Tax Assessors office plans to file an appeal with the Superior Court challenging a board's lowering of some property value in the Rousseau Creek Area.
The tax assessors office approached the McDuffie County Commission Tuesday night seeking permission to file with the court and to amend its budget to cover attorney fees for upcoming litigation.
Linda Thurmond, the county’s chief appraiser, told the commission that the county's equalization board upheld nine out of 12 property value cases in Rousseau Creek. She said one property value was lowered and another case has not been heard.
