Gayle Newsome, McDuffie County’s codes enforcement officer, has continued her fight to clean up the county roads in recent days.
Using community service workers assigned to the county animal shelter, she first led the clean up of a stretch of Mesena Road late last week. The shoulders of the road were cleaned all the way from the city limits to the county landfill.
The community service workers picked up 142 bags of trash. Counting the stretch which was picked up by the roads department, Newsome estimates 160 bags of trash were collected.
