A Thomson native and former professional basketball player has returned to his high school alma mater to give back.
In late November, Vonteego Cummings stepped away from professional basketball and began volunteering as a coach for the Thomson Bulldog basketball team hoping to inspire players to excel.
Cummings graduated from THS in 1995 and went on to star at Pittsburgh, where he played until 1999 and was named to numerous Big-East teams.
Starting 97 of 103 games, he finished his collegiate career as the only player in Pittsburgh history to rank in the school's all-time top tens in career points (ninth, 1,581), assists (fifth, 458), and steals (second, 235).
