Children cheered and celebrated Friday at Thomson Elementary School as 31 students were selected to receive new bicycles compliments of Academy Sports, of Evans.
Students gathered in the school gym and learned that some of them would soon be given a new bike. Names of students who had achieved certain levels of distinction in the SOAR program, which incentivizes good behavior and focuses on academics, were placed into a bucket and the drawings soon began.
As diverse as our school population is, its represented with the winners and I am very pleased with the outcome of the winners, said Principal Anita Cummings.
