A Thomson firefighter who’d forgotten that he’d entered a national sweepstakes to makeover a fire station was surprised during the City’s Christmas luncheon for employees Friday.
Ron Cody, one of more than 9,000 people to enter the “Fire House Makeover,” won a sweepstakes valued at $15,000 to refurbish one of Thomson Fire Rescue Services station houses.
“I am surprised. It is exciting and we need it,” Cody said. “I’d forgotten that I entered the contest, but I am thankful for it,” he said.
