• Sparking pole ignites small area of woods

A fire that began at the base of a power pole called the county fire department into action for 45 minutes on Tuesday.
Sparks ignited a wooded area next to 140 Hobbs Mill Road. The fire prompted a 911 alarm and three engines, nine firefighters from McDuffie County Fire Rescue and Georgia Forestry responded to the call.
