The season ended for the AAA-No. 1 Thomson Bulldogs with a 21-13 loss to the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes in Cartersville Friday night.
The third round game of the state playoffs pitted the two undefeated teams for the right to move to the final four. No. 1 seed Cartersville, 12-0, faces 7-AAA No. 2 seed Buford in Cartersville Friday night.
Turnovers got in Thomson’s way Friday as the team fumbled the ball five times and was intercepted once. Thomson also was unable to score after getting deep into Hurricane territory several times.
Cartersville struck first with just under three minutes left in the first quarter. Brooks Barden spotted Hayes Linn open over the center and Linn ran for a 62-yard score.
