McDuffie schools to dismiss early Friday for game
By McDuffie County Board of Education

McDuffie County schools will dismiss approximately one hour early Friday to allow time for Thomson High Bulldog fans to travel to a playoff game in Cartersville.
Dearing Elementary School will dismiss at 1:30 p.m. and the Thomson schools will dismiss at 2 p.m.
According to Superintendent Jim LeBrun, many staff members, students and fans will be departing by 3 pm to travel to the "Elite Eight" round of the state football playoffs. The game will be at Cartersville High School.
LeBrun anticipates Atlanta traffic will no doubt play a huge factor in that travel time since the school is located northwest of Atlanta off Exit 288 of Interstate 75.
An alternate route to avoid the Atlanta traffic would be to take state Highway 17 North to Washington, then take US 78 W to Athens; continue on US 78 W through Athens to GA 316 W; GA 316 W becomes I 85; take I 85 to I 285 W to I 75 N to exit 288; turn left onto E. Main St./GA 113 S; turn right onto Joe Frank Harris PKWY SE/US 41 N/GA 3 N (Taco Bell on the left); turn left onto E. Church St. (Kroger on the corner); arrive at 320 E. Church St. on the right.
For those using GPS to find a route to the game, Cartersville High School is located at 320 E. Church Street, Cartersville.
