• Foster Wylie is McDuffie’s new coroner

McDuffie County elected a new coroner on Tuesday and cast ballots in local, state and the presidential election on Nov. 6.
In McDuffie County, 9,654 residents, which included 4,993 who voted early, cast ballots. Voters elected J. Foster Wylie as their new coroner. He defeated Democrat Ed Lewis 2,293 to 1,572.
There are 14,224 registered voters in McDuffie County and of that total, 12,129 are active voters.
“I appreciate the confidence the people have placed in me,” Wylie said. “I will do the job as morally and ethically as I know how to do it.”
“It was a great race. Foster and I have known each other a while. He will do a good job,” Lewis said.
