People from the community can have a part in making Christmas bright for someone less fortunate.
On Saturday, Thomson Mayor Kenneth Usry and Thomson Fire-Rescue officially kicked off the local 2012 Mayors’ Christmas Motorcade at Wal-Mart Saturday.
The statewide campaign of the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA), in cooperation with fire departments collects and distributes needed items to each of the state’s six regional hospitals for the benefit of those with developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs.
For the past two Saturdays, fire personnel were on hand to accept donations from the public, and Thomson Mayor Kenneth Usry said the collections helped bring holiday cheer.
