The McDuffie County Board of Education will be forming its own police department in the coming months.
At their October meeting, board members approved spending $30,000 with a private company to help the school system make the transition from a police department working under the Thomson Police Department to a private department.
Superintendent Jim LeBrun said the board approved hiring Private Consultations and Investigations, LLC to assist with the creation of a board of education police department.
