By Wayne Parham

In a called meeting last week, the McDuffie County Board of Education decided to award a contract for four school buses to one company after earlier tentatively awarding the contract to a different company.
The school board tentatively approved a deal to purchase four Freightliner buses by Thomas Built. The board opened sealed bids at it’s Oct. 11 meeting and the Freightliner bid was the lowest. The bid was for a total cost of $260,897 for three 66-passenger buses plus $89,484 for a 48 passenger special education bus with a lift.
