• Yard waste no longer accepted at recycling center

The City of Thomson is no longer accepting yard waste at the recycling facility on Augusta Highway.
City Manager Don Powers said the change is effective immediately.
According to Powers, the state has more stringent air quality rules in place and the city will have to look at the feasibility of upgrading equipment to obtain new permits.
