With just seconds remaining in the game against Gatewood Friday, the Briarwood Buccaneers went to the air trying to find the end zone twice.
Each attempt fell incomplete and time expired with the Bucs down 7-0.
The Bucs started the final possession of the night from their 35-yard line with just 48 seconds left in the game. Briarwood opened with a run for a first down, then spiked the ball to stop the clock.
The big break which had fans on their feet was when Briarwood quarterback Steven Parris found Fifth Newton open for a 36-yard pass completion down to the Gators’ -yard line with 12 seconds left.
Newton’s reception put the Bucs in range to try twice to hit the end zone. The first pass to Dalton Banks fell incomplete as did the next pass attempt to Newton.
