Sunday morning David Lambert, 36, stepped to the pulpit for the first time as lead pastor of First Baptist Church of Thomson.
For more than 11 years, Lambert served as minister of students and Christian activities at the church.
Dr. Leonard Dupree, the interim pastor, gave a charge to Lambert and a charge to the congregation during the installation ceremony Sunday morning. Then, he asked Lambert and his wife to come forward and asked the congregation to place hands on the couple as he prayed for them.
Lambert said one of the “gifts” of this change is that many of the children he led years ago as a youth minister are now adults he will help lead as pastor.
