• Cyclist hurt

A cyclist was taken to Georgia Health Sciences University Medical Center after a Tuesday night accident. Georgia State Patrol TFC Ben Rollins said the accident occurred at 8:29 p.m. on the Thomson By-Pass, just south of Dallas Drive. Jerry Belton, of Thomson, was traveling south on his bicycle in the left lane. Rollins said a Mazda van, driven by Stephen Candler, of Red Haven Road of Thomson, struck the rear of the bicycle, causing the driver to be thrown. Belton was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, said the trooper. There were no citations issued, and Belton was at fault for not riding to the right of the roadway.
