The last day to register to vote in the presidential election is Oct. 9 and the McDuffie County Board of Elections encourages county residents to vote so that their voices can be heard.
“Registering to vote is important because voting is a civic duty,” said Kelvin Williams, elections director.
Williams said all voter registrations should be received by the board of elections by 5 p.m., or postmarked by Oct. 9.
Williams said Oct. 9 is also the deadline for residents to make changes to their names, residency or address.
“We urge people to check on their voter registration status,” he said.
The elections office encourages residents who have moved or who have not voted in the last election cycles to verify that they have not been purged from the registered voter roll.
