The Thomson Bulldogs spotted the Class AAAA LaGrange Grangers three touchdowns early before the game turned into a scoring slugfest Friday night with the Dogs winning 49-42 at Callaway Stadium.
The game pitted the running attack of Thomson, which rushed for 349 yards, against the passing game of LaGrange, which amassed 378 yards.
The Dogs, 4-0 and ranked second in Class AAA, trailed most of the game, but struck the final blow with 3:50 left in the game when William Bussey ran 19 yards for a score. Bussey seemed to be stopped short, but a tackle to score.
The Grangers had a chance to score, but two incomplete passes and Thomson’s Torrie Battle breaking up another pass forced LaGrange to punt and Thomson ran out the clock for their fourth win.
