• Former JROTC instructor’s trial now delayed
By Donna Stillinger, news director of WTHO-FM/WTWA-AM Radio

The trial of a 57-year-old Thomson man accused of sexual assault against a person in custody has been continued.
Judge Roger Dunaway continued the case Monday morning because Mitchell Sivas’ attorney is ill.
The case is likely to be continued until the first felony jury trial dates in early 2013.
Sivas, a former JROTC instructor at Harlem High School, resigned March 4 when confronted about his relationship with a 17-year-old senior at the school. He was indicted by the McDuffie County Grand Jury on March 4.
