The Boys & Girls Club of Thomson-McDuffie is under new leadership. Josh Nolan, 31, is the new director of the Boys & Girls Club of Thomson-McDuffie.
The 31-year-old Ohio native is the previous director of the Boys & Girls Club in Madison.
Nolan graduated with a teaching degree from the University of Akron in 2007 and found job opportunities scarce. He never found a teaching job but did go to work in a group home for children with severe emotional problems. Later, he moved to Florida seeking a job, which didn’t work out. So, he went back to Ohio.
He knew that there were always positions open in group homes, so he applied to two. One was in North Carolina and the other in Macon. Nolan said the North Carolina job would have been working at a boys’ camp. Instead, he went to work at the boys’ home in Macon, where he worked five days on then two days off.
