A North Carolina woman was taken to an Augusta hospital Tuesday morning for injuries that were not life threatening. Georgia State Patrol Trooper Rich Fishel said that Elmarie McClain, 66, of Lumberton, N.C., was eastbound on Interstate 20 near mile marker 177 when the Jeep Liberty she was driving hydroplaned. The vehicle went down an embankment and overturned once, said the trooper. McDuffie Fire Rescue responded and freed the woman by cutting the door open. She was taken to Georgia Health Sciences Medical Center’s Trauma Unit. Fishel said there were no charges in the 10:40 a.m. accident.
