The Thomson Bulldogs snapped a third quarter tie Friday night against the St. Pius X Golden Lions and went on to post a 21-14 upset victory, the team’s third consecutive win.
The Lions were ranked as high as second in polls across the state, with Thomson also being ranked close to the middle of rankings.
“This was about guts,” said Milan Turner, Thomson head coach. “The No. 2 team in the state coming into your place and our kids finding a way and they did it.”
The Bulldogs scored first on their play of the game following a St. Pius punt.
