A strong rushing game Friday night powered the Briarwood Academy Buccaneers to a 41-8 homecoming win over the David Emanuel Eagles.
“We played well. We didn’t turn the ball over and we made very few mistakes. It showed that we came in on Friday focused and ready to go,” said John Osborne, Briarwood head coach. “We were, as the old saying says, clicking on all cylinders.”
The Bucs had no turnovers Friday night, but were able to capitalize early on a David Emanuel fumble on the opening drive of the game. Briarwood took possession on the Eagle’s 41-yard line and six plays later Bryce Sowell scored on a 1-yard carry. The point-after kick sailed through the uprights and Briarwood took a 7-0 lead with 6:56 left in the opening quarter.
