A McDuffie County deputy’s inquisitiveness resulted in more than eight pounds of cocaine being seized before it hit the streets and an Augusta woman held on a $500,000 bond.
McDuffie County Deputy Jared Land was patrolling the county on Interstate 20 Wednesday when he noticed a 2010 Chevrolet Impala following a tractor-trailer too closely. He initiated an 11 p.m. traffic stop at the east bound 170-mile marker and questioned Frantron C. Ferguson, 24, of the 1100 block of Cobb Street in Augusta.
Having a proactive mind, the deputy asked for and received permission to search Ferguson’s vehicle.
