• Brooks sworn into City Council seat, mosquito spraying to begin soon

Agreeing to uphold the Constitution and to fulfill the duties on behalf of the people of Thomson, Sadie Brooks was sworn in as a member of the Thomson City Council Thursday night.
With family members watching, Brooks raised her right hand in front of Judge Valerie Burley and accepted her responsibilities.
After receiving handshakes, congratulatory hugs from the council members and a welcome from Mayor Kenneth Usry, Brooks took her seat as the representative of city district three.
Her sitting fill the council vacancy that resulted from the July 7 death of Bernice Brown.
