The man who caused an accident that damaged two Thomson Police cars has been jailed on a variety of charges.
Early Monday morning two Thomson Police officers were pursuing a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Jimmy L. Jones, Jr. 20, of the 460 block of Jackson Street, when he suddenly stopped, causing two police cars to collide into his car.
The Georgia State Patrol, who responded to the 12:45 a.m. accident, initially charged Jones with driving under the influence.
According to John Seay, interim office administrator of the Thomson Police Department, the chase began when Jones failed to stop after Officer Keith Smith tried to initiate a traffic stop.
