Sizzling Signs of Thomson turned this race car owned by Bo Sutton of Jackson, S.C., into a moving memorial recognizing September 11, 2001. Jill Herkel and Matthew Pighills of Sizzling Signs wrapped the race car in tribute to all fallen heroes to keep their memory alive. “I wanted to do a 911 car because I drag race and I haven’t seen it (a memorial) on a car before. It hasn’t been done and I wanted to do something new and exciting,” said Sutton, who is a member of the Team Freedom Racing Team. “All of this goes back to freedom,” he said. The car features the Twin Towers on one side with the emblems of the branches of military service, firefighters and paramedics. On the top is the number 343, which honors the number of firefighters and police who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks. On the side, is the logo which is “9-11-01 Never Forgotten.” The front of the car symbolizes the flag with red, white and blue stripes. The car will make its race debut Sept. 19 through Sept. 23 at the Vision Two Finals at the Carolina Dragway in Jackson, S.C.
