Funeral services for Wallace Eugene Aldred, 50, of Thomson, Ga., will be held on Mon., Sept. 17, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Jones Grove Baptist Church in Thomson. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Thomson Funeral System is handling the arrangements.

Ernestine H. Bohler
Ernestine Holloway Bohler, 94, of Lincolnton, Ga., wife of the late Willard Austin Bohler, entered into rest on Fri., Sept. 14, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Mon., Sept. 17, at Martin's Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church & Cemetery.
Visitation was held on Sun., Sept. 16, at Rees Funeral Home in Lincolnton.

Ann Grant
Ann Grant, 84, of Thomson, Ga., widow of Roy D. Grant, died on Fri., Sept. 14, 2012.
Funeral services were held on Sun., Sept. 16, at Dearing United Methodist Church. Burial was in Dearing Memorial Cemetery.
The family received friends on Sat., Sept. 15, at Curtis Funeral Home in Thomson.

Herbert T. Johnson
Funeral services for Herbert T. Johnson, 76, of Wrens, Ga., were held on Sat., Sept. 15, 2012, at Lofton A.M.E. Church in Wrens. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Freeman Funeral Home handled the arrangements.


Walter Alvin Kennedy, Sr.

Walter Alvin Kennedy, Sr., 70, of Story-Randall Rd. of Thomson, Ga., entered into rest on Sept. 16, 2012 at his residence.
Memorial services will be held at 10 o’clock a.m. on Tues., Sept. 18, at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Grant Cantrell and Rev. Kenneth Garvin officiating.
Mr. Kennedy was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County, Ga. and was the son of the late Johnny Alvin Kennedy and the late Emma Byce Kennedy. He was a retired auditor with W.S. Badcock Corporation and was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Edna Usry Kennedy; daughters, Teresa Ann Bitterman and husband Jim of Thomson, Pamela Denise Wilson and husband Mike of Eastonolee, Ga., Vickie Lynn Tector and husband John of Thomson; son, Walter A. Kennedy, Jr. and wife Connie of Newport News, Va.; sisters, Mabel Woods of Appling, Margaret Quick of Thomson, Dorothy Johnson of Ladson, S.C., Sheila Thompson of Lancaster, S.C.; and 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Cecil D. “Stick” Smith
Cecil D. “Stick” Smith, of Thomson Hwy. in Warrenton, Ga., entered into rest on Sept. 17, 2012. He was born on Oct. 23, 1923 to Eva and David Smith.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thurs., Sept. 20, at Mill Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Clifton Drawdy officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Rushing, Jon Oates, Marty Andrews, Milton Kendrick, Tim Smith and Zach Smith.
Cecil was a resident of Warren County and a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church in Mitchell, Ga. He proudly served in World War II as a technician fourth grade in the 1897 Engineer Battalion. He served as a combination welder in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines, working with Navy Seabees constructing air strips. For his outstanding service, he was awarded the American Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal with three bronze stars, Philippines Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star, WWII Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He served in Philippines during the Battle of Leyte and was in Japan at the time of surrender. After being discharged from the service, Cecil owned and operated a trucking company for 65+ years.
Survivors include his son, Sonny Smith (Kathy) of Warrenton; daughters, Starr Crawford of Grovetown, Ga. and Jeannie Rushing (Derrell) of Warrenton; sisters, Barbara Cornelison and Helen Braun, both of Lilburn, Ga. and Faye Marshall of Athens, Ga.; grandchildren, Pam Howard of Thomson, Ga., Marilyn Allen of Augusta, Ga., Zach Smith of Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., and Chris Rushing of Dearing, Ga.; several great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by wife and mother of his children, Marian J. Smith; second wife, Doris Elizabeth Smith; sister, Ruby Linde; brothers, John T. Smith, James L. Smith; and twin siblings, Allen and Alice Smith.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. on Wed., Sept. 19, at the funeral home.

Myra E. Gay Wheeler, 75, of Keysville, Ga., wife of A. D. Wheeler, entered into rest on Sat., Sept. 15, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tues., Sept. 18, at James Funeral Home Chapel in Wrens, Ga. Interment will be in Mt. Moriah UMC Cemetery in Matthews, Ga.
